What is the HPP maquila service?
The concept of maquila of products refers, in its broad form, to those productive activities of a company that are sent to a different one to be carried out. That is to say, it is a production “for someone else’s account” whose main objective is to reduce costs and deliver competitive advantages.
If we relate this concept, also known as tolling together with High Pressures, the result is a service provided by some companies called suppliers to others called customers, in a ‘cold’, non-thermal pasteurization process that uses high pressures to deactivate pathogens (Listeria monocytogenes and Salmonella, among others) in food, returning the product to its client for subsequent marketing. Offering a comprehensive solution without the need for large investments, allowing you to focus on your core business, boost your competitiveness and reach new markets.
As we can see in the following graph, the evolution of the number of installed machines has skyrocketed since the beginning of the 21st century.
The advantages of commercial implementation of high pressure processes are important reasons why this technology has reached the consumer in a short time with a wide variety of products. For these reasons, the number of commercial teams that are operating in the world has increased in recent years, and this is a sign that companies are betting on increasing the diversity of their products and improving their quality.
Some of the most powerful food companies in Spain, along with technological institutes, have a machine of these characteristics to their credit, but most opt for the maquila service. Our company (IDRO) currently leads the High Pressure market in Madrid, positioning us as one of the most powerful nationally in our sector.
